Our LSU Lady Tiger

Our school is the proud sponsor of Theresa Plaisance, an LSU Lady basketball player! The K-2nd graders were so excited to welcome her for her first time in our school. We asked questions, watched a funny game (Mrs. Fitzgerald played too!), gave her gifts, and even broke out into a chant of "L-S-U, L-S-U!"

She's so tall!!!

A Trip to Africa

Mrs. Fitzgerald's Uncle Brian came to talk to our class. He is a missionary in Africa and was home on a 6 month furlough. He brought many interesting things for us to see, touch, and even try on! We loved learning about a different part of the world and different culture. Thanks Uncle Brian!

Above is a picture of a kitchen in Botswana, Africa.

Everyone took turns feeling the homemade baskets.

Uncle Brian modeled a dress shirt that is usually worn to weddings in Botswana.

These wooden animals are beautiful!

Showing an amazing photograph of a lioness. Uncle Brian has seen many animals up close that we only see in the zoo!

Mrs. Fitzgerald trying on a garment (I don't remember what they call them!). It's just one piece of material that is sewn on both sides to make the arms.

JaVonte modeled a piece of animal skin that little boys tie up to make shorts.

We also got to see many pictures of amazing animals from Uncle Brian's many safari trips.

It was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed every bit of it!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Before our yummy lunch, we preformed for our parents in a giant circle dance! Our favorite was the "Turkey Tango." We did such a good job and looked like real little Indians!

Thanksgiving Lunch

Our Thanksgiving Lunch was a great success! We had so many parents come to eat the yummy meal! Thanks for making it a special time. We love our parents!
(The turkey's feathers are made out of Cub Cards- rewards the children get when they are caught being good. We have a drawing every Friday and the names pulled are added to the school's Cub Club. What an honor!)

Becoming Native Americans

We worked for almost 2 weeks making our Native American shirts for our Thanksgiving Lunch. We strung bead after bead to make our shirts look festive!

Mr. Kyle (Mrs. Fitzgerald's husband) came to help out with the beading.

We painted some Indian symbols on our shirts as well. We loved them!

Crazy Hat Day

We love good behavior! The behavior incentive for October (ohh, I'm behind!) was "Crazy Hat Day." The students had a lot of fun wearing hats all day long. And some of you were very creative!

Ms. Shamp and Mrs. Fitzgerald

Mrs. Mayeux, Mrs. Fitzgerald, Ms. Sosa, and Ms. Shamp- of course the Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers participated in Crazy Hat Day! :)

Show and Tell

A while back we had Show and Tell for a full week! The children brought a certain item every day from home to discuss and share with their friends. This helped us to work on language, taking turns, and conversations.

Sharing "Favorite Toys"

Something that reminds you of your favorite place :) Raising Cane's!

A picture from home. The one below is my favorite- if you can see. It's a baseball picture of Caleb, and one of his dad when he was younger. :)

Your favorite book.
