The First Days of Kindergarten!

Here is our class on the first day of Kindergarten! Well, actually their second, because the first 3 days we stagger their entrance so we have smaller class sizes to learn the new rules and routines. I think this is mostly for the teachers :) but I am very grateful!

The pictures below are from our staggered days. We colored, painted, played in centers, on the computers, and made ladybug cookies! How much fun!

We painted a monster after reading about "The Monster Who Came to School." The monster didn't know any rules and acted like a MONSTER! We are working hard to learn our rules so we don't act like monsters :)

This activity is one of my favorites! I introduce them to the document camera and projector (they find it quite amazing!) and I give directions on how to make a ladybug cookie. - Spread the icing, put on the eyes, put on the dots! This shows me who can follow directions, and they don't even know I'm testing them! They all did a great job, by the way!

And of course we had to figure out how we get home! We learned about graphs as we shared our ways to get home.

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Hello Everyone! Welcome to Kindergarten! I can't believe another school year is already here, but I am excited to get to know my new students and learn with them along this new journey.

This picture is of my husband and me at Pilot Knob in North Carolina. We found "Mayberry" there, our new kindergarten class bear! He's from Mt. Airy, North Carolina- the home place of Andy Griffith. You'll hear a lot more about Mayberry later on, as he will be traveling to each of your homes throughout this year. My students last year took such great pride in our classroom bear, Page, and I know this year will be the same!
See you soon! ~ Mrs. Fitzgerald
